Business Computing BSc

This degree is an interdisciplinary one that combines the breadth of Information Technologies, (electronic offices as well as databases, programming and the internet) along with the core areas of Business, (management accounting, marketing and management economics, law and finance). The graduates will have the understanding and skills necessary to comprehend the business functions and analyse the needs of users in order to design and implement information systems.

Through a mix of theory and practice You’ll learn to be able to discern a dynamic mixture of processes that permit information delivery systems to fulfill their duties within an organization. Additionally, you’ll learn to recognise that a business is an organization that is constantly evolving and changing and how information systems need to be able to adjust to these changes and the changing requirements and demands of the users.

In your second year, you’ll hone your IT and computing skills through practical workshops and projects. Our faculty members will share their knowledge of research with you, and you’ll have the opportunity to participate in an industrial placement year, where you can put the new skills you’ve learned in a real-world setting.

Our teaching is influenced by the most recent technological advancements and focuses on applying emerging technologies to business. You can select from a wide range of modules, including Big Data Analytics, Informatics Strategy and Management and e-Business Technology. Regular guest speakers from leading companies will help to enhance the learning and help demonstrate the relevance of the subject matter you’re studying as well as the job prospects for our graduates.
